Rumors to the contrary, Larry Leigon was not actually present at the discovery of wine in 30,000 B.C. or privy to the inner dialogues of Phillip the Bold’s edict banning the “very bad and disloyal” Gamay grape from Burgundy in 1395–hence the “mostly true” in the book title.

The stories of how he changed the definition of wine by the United States government, was a founder in the only non-alcoholic winery in the history to win a gold medal against wines with alcohol, searched the high mountains for the perfect 100 point wine, and was forced into the wine business when his career as an assistant Bozo ended abruptly are all too true.
